If the job normally takes 3 days, say fine, it's done Wednesday, but the price goes up 30 or 40 percent and I want the extra half upfront. In your case he already came with $250 on the table, so you take it, but you also tell him that price was for this one time because he moved the date on you. That way he learns the next rush costs more and you're not the guy who folds for free. Four months of steady work beats a clean conscience and an empty calendar.
