A drunk guy at a wedding told me my whole portfolio looked like a funeral, so I swapped black for rust orange and got 3 callbacks
He was slurring and rude about it, but he was kind of right, every dress I'd sketched was charcoal or black. I redid my line with rust, mustard, and moss green, and a boutique in Tampa asked to carry two of the pieces. Has anyone else gotten their best design note from the worst possible source?

Waited to say this but rust orange is technically orange, not red, which is why it probably worked better than just swapping one dark moody color for another. Sounds like the drunk guy was onto something without even knowing why it clicked.
