The "water it every day" advice on plant tags is why my pothos almost died
I killed a pothos last winter because the little tag said water weekly, so I did, and the roots sat in muck for two months straight. Pulled it out in March and the bottom half of the root ball was brown and soft while the top looked fine. Now I stick my finger down two knuckles and only water when it comes up dry, which for that pot in my Boise apartment is more like every 9 or 10 days. The tag doesn't know your pot, your soil, or your humidity, and nobody tells new folks that. What's your go to way to actually check before watering?
