PSA: that "just say no to rush jobs" advice is garbage for most of us
Everyone in here loves to say never accept a moved-up deadline, but when a guy from a printing shop in Toledo moved my due date from Friday to Wednesday and offered $250 extra, I took it and it was the right call. My rent does not care about my principles and he has sent me steady work for 4 months since. So before you all tell me I got played, what would you have done with 3 days and no other jobs lined up?
What was your actual alternative, sitting home for 3 days? The way I see it you price the rush. If the job normally takes 3 days, say fine, it's done Wednesday, but the price goes up 30 or 40 percent and I want the extra half upfront. In your case he already came with $250 on the table, so you take it, but you also tell him that price was for this one time because he moved the date on you. That way he learns the next rush costs more and you're not the guy who folds for free. Four months of steady work beats a clean conscience and an empty calendar.
