Fancy cooking tips actually ruined my evenings
Lots of freelancers swear by making complex meals to unwind. I found it just piles on more pressure. After client calls, I used to force myself to chop and simmer for hours. One time, I tried a new recipe with ten steps. It took forever, and I missed a deadline. Now I just eat basic stuff like toast or cereal for dinner. No shame in it. My brain gets a real break. I can actually relax instead of cooking all night.

Saying fancy cooking 'ruined your evenings' sounds kinda dramatic, tbh.

My attempt at fancy cooking last week ended with smoke alarm applause. Definitely didn't help the whole 'relaxing evening' vibe.

You know what gets me, it's the cleanup. A fancy meal means every pan in the kitchen is dirty. So after all that work, you're staring at a mountain of dishes instead of relaxing. That's the real evening killer. Last time I tried a sauce, I had to scrub a crusty pan for twenty minutes. It turns a fun idea into a chore that eats up your whole night.

Honestly @the_shane, it's not dramatic if you're already mentally drained. Forcing a creative hobby like cooking after work just adds performance pressure on yourself. A simple meal means my brain can finally shut off instead of juggling recipe steps.
