Vent: My calendar looked full but my bank account was empty last month.

I took on five small projects in April thinking it was smart to stay busy. Each one had its own calls and tiny edits that ate up my afternoons. By the end of the month, I'd worked every day but made less than my usual rate from two solid jobs. It showed me that being busy isn't the same as doing good work. How do you spot a project that will just waste your time?

Check if the project has a real goal or just busywork. Like a client asking for three logo options but they already have a sketch. That's a time sink. Or endless "brand voice" talks for a one page flyer. If the first meeting feels like spinning wheels, it usually is.

Yeah, and those small adds turn into a whole new project without the pay.

Been there, it's the worst feeling. I look for clients who ask a million tiny questions before we even start. That usually means they'll nickel and dime every step of the work. A clear scope up front is the only thing that saves me now. How do you handle clients who keep adding small requests?
