TIL you can flip the derailleur hanger bolt around on a stuck dropout, and I picked the wrong side
Customer brought in a 90s Hardrock with a hanger bolt seized so bad my 5mm key started rounding the head. I had the choice of drilling it out or trying the flip trick a guy in Tucson showed me, and I went with the drill because I was in a rush. Two hours and one trashed dropout later, I'm wondering if anyone else has actually saved one of these with the flip method.

Wait, isn't the flip trick for when the bolt threads are seized in the dropout, not the head? The move I know is you spin the bolt around so the head grabs what used to be the threaded side, giving you fresh material to turn against. If your 5mm hex was rounding out, flipping the bolt doesn't fix a chewed-up socket, it just moves where the force goes. The Tucson guy's trick works great on a bolt that's stuck in the frame but still has a clean head. Sounds like you had the opposite problem, so drilling may have been your only real option anyway.
