I was dunking blades in canola oil heated to about 130 degrees because some video said warm oil cuts the warp, and I figured it was close enough to proper quench oil. He walked up, looked at my setup, and said 'you are guessing at temp' so I bought a $22 infrared thermometer the next day. Now I check oil temp before every quench, so what are you all using to actually measure your quench medium instead of just feeling the side of the bucket?
