My great uncle's 80 year old anvil has a crack near the horn, worth fixing or should I just leave it?
So my great uncle passed a while back and I finally got his old anvil moved into my shop last Saturday. It's a 150 pound Fisher and it's been in the family since my grandpa bought it used back in 1962. I was cleaning the rust off with a wire wheel and found a hairline crack running about 2 inches back from the horn on the top face. I've heard you can braze it or weld it but that scares me since I don't want to mess up the temper. I mainly do small stuff like hooks and bottle openers so I don't know if I should even worry about it. Anyone here ever dealt with a cracked anvil and did you repair it or just work around the bad spot?

A hairline crack on a 150 lb Fisher isn't worth the risk, just work around it.
