Sold my old coal forge for a propane one and now I miss the coal
Last month I finally gave up on my coal forge and switched to a two burner propane one because I got tired of hunting down coal around here and dealing with the ash. The propane is cleaner and lights in five minutes, which my wife loves since the smoke used to drift into the house. But I can't get the same control I had with coal, and my welds in the fire are coming out uneven because the heat feels flatter to me. I've been running it about six weeks now and I'm still not sure I made the right call. Anyone here switch to propane and find a way to get that same feel back, or should I just set up both and quit whining?
