Why does nobody talk about how much easier it is to buy tongs than make them
First 2 years at the forge I bent every pair myself from coil spring and burned through 6 of them in a month, now I just grab a $40 pair off the rack at the supply house in Tulsa and save my arms for actual work. Anybody else feel like a fraud for buying tongs or is that just me?

My grandpa built his own workbench from scratch and then went to Sears for the hammer. There is a whole list of things we could make but just buy instead, and nobody calls the guy at the hardware store a fake for grabbing a bucket. Tongs are a tool, not a test of your worth, so buy the forty dollar pair and get back to hammering hot metal.
