inStumbled on a little gallery in Savannah that got me thinking about digital vs traditional
Oh man, I totally get where that guy was coming from, @taylor_wells. For me, switching to a digital sketchpad was a game changer because I could undo mistakes in seconds without ruining a whole sheet of paper. I actually tried doing a watercolor study on my iPad and it felt weirdly similar to working with a real brush, just way cleaner and less messy. Idk, maybe it's just me but the whole undo button thing saved me so much time messing around with colors.

inOld school vs. glue on shoes for a show string.
Did you read that study from the UK a couple years back where they compared hot shoeing vs. glue ons under a microscope? I swear, they found glue shoes actually spread the load more evenly across the hoof, so it's not just a bandaid. But your old timer buddy isn't totally wrong either, nail clinching does stimulate blood flow to the coronet band, I've read that in a few different articles. My farrier told me he's seen glue shoes cause real issues when people leave them on too long without resetting, like thrush and white line disease. I'd say if she's going sound and you're pulling those glue shoes every 6 weeks for a proper reset, you're probably fine.

inThe day I stopped fighting with my tape measure and started believing it
That part about "adding it back later" hit me hard. I did the exact same thumb trick for years and never once thought about the hook. My dad was a carpenter too and he swore by the thumb method, said it was "real measuring" or something. It's funny how we just pick up these little habits and never question them even when they make things harder. Once I actually started using the hook like it was designed for, my cuts got way cleaner and I stopped wasting wood.

inShowerthought: My sister's divorce lawyer pointed out a sneaky clause in her house sale contract
@ray613 I get that some people get burned by fine print, but honestly this sounds like one of those things that gets blown out of proportion. Landlords have to do maintenance, and most of them aren't just letting themselves in to snoop around. A buddy of mine had a similar clause in his lease for years and never once had an issue. It's smart to be careful, but acting like every broad term is a trap is just paranoid.

inI hit 50 nights on the trail this year and it's not what I thought it would be
Yeah, that diner stop says it all... It's like we're all trying to fill a logbook instead of our heads with good memories. I did the same thing trying to finish a long trail. I was so beat from pushing miles that I skipped side trails to waterfalls and didn't talk to any other hikers. Now I just remember being sore, not the cool stuff I must have walked right past.
