Honestly, I used to think solo board gaming was just sad. Then I got stuck in a hotel in Omaha for a week last month.

My solo Gloomhaven campaign in Chicago got me through a brutal winter. It's a different kind of fun, not sad at all.

Gloomhaven's a beast to set up solo though, not exactly cozy. More like a project you can lose yourself in.

My friend said the same thing as @riley_gibson19 after his solo game nights got him through a tough breakup. It really is its own kind of comfort.
