Ditched my $300 digital level after a foreman showed me a string line trick

I blew a whole paycheck on that fancy digital level back in March because I thought it'd speed up my layout work, but last Tuesday the old timer on my crew set up a string line and a torpedo level in about 4 minutes and got the same result I spent 20 minutes fussing with, so has anyone else gone back to the cheap tools after getting burned by the pricey ones?

Man, the "$300 digital level" part hit me right in the wallet. I did the exact same thing last fall, bought one thinking I was being all high tech and professional. First job with it, I dropped it off a ladder and the screen went all weird, so now it's basically a very expensive paperweight. My old man's been using the same beat up string line and a bubble level for 20 years, and he's never once needed to charge his tools overnight. I guess the real trick is that the cheap stuff never lies, it just sits there and waits for you to figure it out.
