Book club argument: should the person who picked the book have to lead the talk?
We had 9 people at my Tuesday club in Boise last month. Picked a 400 page doorstop. The guy who chose it showed up, said two sentences, then let everyone else carry it for 90 minutes.
Half of us say the picker should run the whole discussion. Do the work, bring the questions, steer it. Other half says leading kills the fun and the group should just take it wherever it goes.
We almost lost two people over this. What does your club do and how did you settle it?
