My book club told me to stop over-explaining and it fixed our meetings
For about 8 months I was the person who came to every book club meeting with 3 pages of notes, themes, and historical context. Last month someone finally said, "You make it feel like homework, can we just talk about what we liked?" It stung but they were right. I cut my notes down to one sentence about the ending and one question I wanted to ask. Our last meeting on 'Piranesi' went 2 hours and nobody checked their phone once. People actually argued about whether the house was a prison or a sanctuary, and I just listened for the first time. Has anyone else been called out for turning casual discussion into a lecture? What did you change to save your group? I still love the deep stuff but I keep it for the group chat now.

Piranesi's house is both, that take is weak.
