Unpopular opinion: Our club's 'The Goldfinch' debate in Denver got so heated someone threw a paperback.
It was over whether Theo was a victim or just a jerk, and the book hit a lamp. Anyone else had a meeting go completely off the rails like that?

Guess the real victim was the lamp. Tessalane has a point though, you need the hardcover edition for proper home decor demolition.

My friend's kid threw a hardcover copy of "The Very Hungry Caterpillar" across the room once... it took out a whole mug of hot chocolate and the TV remote. The book was totally fine, not a scratch. The remote, not so much. We still call that book the silent assassin.

So is the hardcover basically a home wrecking tool now? Corap61's story proves those things are built like bricks, and they leave a path of destruction. Next time I need to demo something small, I'm skipping the hammer and grabbing a dictionary.

Wait, was it really a paperback that broke the lamp? Those things are pretty soft. I bet it was a hardcover that did the damage, those corners are deadly. Either way, sounds like a book club meeting to remember!
