Shoutout to my philodendron after 6 months under a grow light

I moved this sad little plant from my dark kitchen to a $30 Amazon light 6 months ago and it went from 3 leaves to 12 now. Has anyone else seen a big turn around with cheap lights or is it just beginner's luck for me?

My pothos grew 8 new leaves in a dark corner with a cheap LED bulb I found in a drawer.

Yeah I've seen this exact thing happen more times than I can count. A lot of those cheap grow lights work fine if you keep them close enough to the plant, like 6 to 8 inches away. The trick is making sure you're not burning the leaves while still giving them enough light to actually grow. I've had a few plants that just sat there doing nothing until I moved the light closer, then they took off.
