Dropped $80 on a fancy multimeter that lied to me on a fridge call

Cheap meters lie all the time, learned that one the hard way myself.

TIL showing up 15 minutes early to every interview got me more callbacks than any resume trick

Oh man, totally feel this one. I've been that person sprinting in five minutes late, hair a mess, trying to apologize while spilling coffee everywhere. Meanwhile, the early bird is sitting there calmly with their life together. Last week I showed up 20 minutes early for a meeting by accident, and I swear I didn't know what to do with myself. I just sat there awkwardly staring at my phone, pretending I was super busy. Being early feels like a secret superpower I can't seem to unlock.

Remember when every kitchen had a dedicated stockpot simmering all day?

My granddad ran a diner for 30 years and made fresh stock every single day, even when it was slow and money was tight. He'd say the half hour of cleanup and the gas bill were nothing compared to the difference it made in his gravy and soups. I get that times are different now, but calling it a luxury feels like we're giving up on something real just to save a few bucks and some time.

Serious question, why does everyone at the Milwaukee shop love those carbide burr sets?

Hang on, hold up. People are way too quick to trash these cheap burr sets. I bought one of those 10-piece packs from the bargain bin at a tool show last year and it's honestly been fine for most of what I do. Sure, maybe they're not the best for production work running stainless all day long, but for a homeowner or a hobbyist who might use a rotary tool twice a month they're totally adequate. The key is you have to take it easy on the feed rate and not just jam it into the metal like you hate it. Stories about them exploding are probably from guys who are way too aggressive and then blame the tool for their own heavy hand.

Paid $40 for a silicone liner that melted into my fries

Total disaster here too, mine melted into a sticky black puddle after five minutes at 375.
