Warning: found out a 4x4 post costs $46 now in my town
Was at Kootenay Lumber in Nelson last Tuesday restocking. Guy behind the counter said treated 4x4x8s jumped from $18 to $46 in under two years. I had to redo three quotes on the spot. Any of you guys padding estimates for lumber swings yet, or you just eat it?

Same thing hit us over on the coast. Called my supplier about 2x6 decking last month and the price went from $14 to $31 since spring. I had a guy sign a contract in March and by the time we broke ground the material alone ate my whole margin. Now I add a line for lumber adjustment and tell clients it expires in 14 days. Half of them look at me like I'm running a scam but the other half get it. Lost two jobs over it already but I'd rather lose the job than lose money on it.
