Bought a 12 pack of fancy rice vinegar, it expired before I used half
I spent $14 on that 12 pack at the Asian market last spring thinking I'd use it for all kinds of recipes, but it sat in my pantry and now I'm tossing 7 bottles, has anyone else fallen for the bulk buy trap with stuff you only need a splash of?

Wait, you actually threw out rice vinegar? That stuff basically never goes bad, it just sits there looking sad but it's still fine to use.
I used to think bulk buying was always the smart move, especially for stuff I cooked with a lot. But then I bought a huge jar of fish sauce during a sale and realized six months later I'd used maybe a quarter of it.
The keyword thing is that for these splash-only ingredients, the cost per bottle doesn't matter if you're not gonna use it up. Now I only buy the small bottles even if they cost more per ounce.
Honestly, the vinegar probably was still good, but I get the frustration of having all that stuff take up space. Better to just accept you're a splash cook and buy tiny.
