Just realized I spent under $30 on food this entire week

Honestly, I was cleaning out my wallet and added up all my grocery receipts from Monday to today. Ngl, I was shocked to see $27.84. That's for two people, and we ate decently. I made a huge pot of bean and potato soup on Monday, used leftover chicken for wraps, and did a lot of eggs. It mattered because I was sure we were going over budget with prices lately. Has anyone else hit a number that low recently and what did you make?

That's a crazy low number, but is it really a win? Food prices are insane, so pulling that off probably meant a lot of work and very simple meals. It sounds more stressful than something to aim for every week.

Used to feel the same way about cutting food costs. Then I tried a week of simple meals and found it weirdly freeing instead of stressful. Turns out not having to decide what to cook every night saved me more time than I spent prepping.

My roommate and I did something similar with lentil stew last month.

Ever think it would feel like a chore? I was surprised how much easier it got after the first week...
