My grocery bill went from $120 a week to $65 after I stopped buying meat
I made the switch about three months ago, and the change was immediate. I used to buy chicken breast and ground beef every single trip, which was a huge part of my cost. Now I base my meals on beans, lentils, and eggs from the local market. A single bag of dried beans costs less than two dollars and makes several meals. I honestly think the 'need' for meat at dinner is the biggest budget trap for people trying to save. Has anyone else cut their food costs in half by doing something similar?

How much do you save a month now?

Honestly, the real number gets lost in tracking every coffee. Focusing on a fixed percentage of each paycheck works better for me, because it automates the decision. That way the savings just happen without the mental math.

Yeah, that percentage method is the only way it sticks. I just pretend that money doesn't even exist.
