PSA: My coworker's cheap soup idea got me through a pay cut
After our company reduced hours, a guy in my department shared his recipe for lentil soup that costs about five bucks a pot. I made a huge batch on Sunday and it fed me for three days straight. It was hearty enough to keep me full during long shifts without breaking the bank. What low cost meals have you leaned on when money got tight at work?

Saw my friend stretch her budget with a big pot of black bean soup last winter. She made it with dry beans and leftover veggies, costing almost nothing. That soup fed her for days and really helped when her hours got cut.

I love how your friend used dry beans and leftover veggies! I read an article once that said beans are a budget superhero because they're so cheap and nutritious. Making a big batch of soup like that is such a smart way to eat well for less. It's cool how simple cooking tricks can make a real difference when money is tight. That story honestly inspires me to be more careful with my own grocery shopping.

Your friend's smarter than me, @the_abby. My idea of budget cooking is ordering takeout and regretting it later.
