The neighbor who taught me to freeze leftover rice
Last Tuesday my neighbor Linda came over while I was scraping burnt rice into the trash and she literally grabbed the pan out of my hand. She showed me how to spread fresh rice on a baking sheet, freeze it for 20 minutes, then bag it up. Have you ever tried freezing rice instead of tossing it?

Does it really come out just as good as fresh rice or does it get a bit dry? Seems like it would save a ton of time but I'm skeptical about the texture.

Have you actually tried freezing fresh rice the same way to compare? That's the real test right there. I see people talking about this method a lot but nobody ever says if they did a side by side. Frozen rice is definitely better than day old rice left in the pot on the stove, but compared to fresh from the cooker? Its close but not exactly the same. The texture gets a tiny bit more dense and less fluffy, depends on the rice type too. Jasmine and basmati hold up way better than short grain in my experience. What kind of rice are you usually cooking?

Hold up, nobody's talking about how this changes your meal prep game completely. I started freezing my leftover rice after seeing a similar tip and now I use it for quick fried rice breakfasts. Just grab a frozen clump, toss it in a hot pan with some butter and an egg, and you got a 5 minute meal that beats takeout. The key is breaking it up while it's still frozen so it doesn't clump together when it thaws. Way better than trying to salvage dry rice that's been sitting in the fridge for 3 days, lol.
