My cheap travel pillow exploded on a red-eye to Mexico City

This happened about three months ago on a flight from Chicago. I was trying to sleep and heard a weird hissing sound. Next thing I know, my neck is covered in tiny white foam beads. The inflatable part was fine, but the cheap cover had ripped open at the seam. I spent the next four hours picking beads out of my hair and shirt. The worst part was the mess it made all over my seat and the floor. I felt so bad for the flight crew. I ended up using my jacket rolled up as a pillow for the rest of the trip. Has anyone found a travel pillow that's actually durable and doesn't cost a fortune?

Yeah, the hoodie trick is my go-to now too.

Oh man, that "tiny white foam beads" part is the stuff of nightmares lol. I saw a review for one of those memory foam ones that said it survived a bunch of trips stuffed in a backpack, but it was still kinda pricey. Honestly after my last cheap pillow went flat, I just gave up and use a hoodie now. The mess you had to deal with sounds way worse though.

Relate to the foam bead nightmare (I once had a cheap umbrella turn inside out in a storm).
