PSA: My $11 hostel night in Lisbon beat my $90 hotel stay
I used to skip hostels because I figured cheap meant dirty and loud, then a friend talked me into a hostel in Lisbon for 11 bucks a night. It had a shared kitchen, free breakfast, and I ended up splitting a grocery run with 3 folks from Australia, so my food for 4 days came to around $22. The private room I booked my last 2 nights cost $90 and honestly the wifi was worse and nobody talked to me. If you've been paying for hotels on solo trips, what finally got you to try a dorm bed?
