Shoutout to the crepe vendor by the Eiffel Tower who proved a common tip wrong
Everyone says to avoid eating near big sights because it's too expensive. But in Paris, I talked to a crepe seller right by the Eiffel Tower. He told me about a free museum day, and his prices were reasonable. I saved cash and got a good meal by ignoring that advice.

That's some wild luck, but it's still generally terrible advice. Most vendors by huge sights bank on trapped tourists. Remember that watery five euro coffee near the Colosseum, or the eight euro stale pretzel under the London Eye. Your one nice crepe guy is the exception that proves the rule. Usually you walk two blocks away and find the same thing for half the price and twice the quality.

Tourist prices cover the experience, not just the product.

My friend paid seven euros for water outside the Louvre once.
