Sure, the guy was right that one time, but that's how these stories always go. Nobody posts about the cheap tip that left them stranded at a bus stop for two hours while the train sailed by. A 3 euro bus beating a 15 euro train sounds great until the bus is full, late, or the driver decides to skip your stop, and then you're out both the money and the time. Cheap travel hacks only get bragged about when they work, which makes them about as reliable as a coin flip. For every win like yours there's some poor soul who trusted the same kind of tip and ended up sleeping in a station.
