My uncle's advice about grocery shopping backfired pretty bad
My uncle told me to always buy in bulk at the big warehouse stores to save money, so I dropped $200 on a massive pack of chicken breasts and a giant jar of mayo last March. Turns out I couldn't eat it all before it went bad and ended up throwing half of it away, which cost me way more than just buying smaller portions each week. Anyone else gotten stuck with spoiled food from bulk buying?

Freeze that chicken in portioned bags as soon as you get home.

Wait, you freeze it the same day you buy it? Like right when you walk in the door?

Are you telling me there are people who don't freeze it the same day? That's the only way I can make it through the week without throwing out half a pack of chicken that's gone slimy. I've got a system now where I break down the big family packs into single portions right there on the counter, slap a label on each bag with a sharpie, and toss them straight in the freezer before I even put the groceries away. The kids won't touch leftovers if they've been sitting in the fridge for more than two days, so freezing things the moment they hit the house is basically survival mode for me. Honestly, I'd rather spend ten minutes bagging chicken than waste money on meat that's going to go bad because I forgot about it.
