Stripped a bolt on a Mercedes 300D in my driveway last Saturday

I was trying to swap out the glow plugs on my old 1984 300D, you know the ones that are notorious for getting stuck. Fourth one from the back snapped off clean with the threads still in the head, felt like my stomach dropped. Had to borrow my buddy's extractor kit and spent 3 hours drilling it out with a left-hand bit, but I got it out without damaging the head. Has anyone else had luck with those cheap extractor sets from Harbor Freight or is it worth spending the extra money on a real set?

Helped my neighbor fix a leaky pipe under his sink yesterday - found $20 in there from the previous owner

The guy on Maple Street, he's been in that house for about 5 years and never opened the cabinet under the kitchen sink. I was helping him swap out a old shutoff valve because it was dripping, and when I pulled the stuff out from under there, there was a crumpled up $20 bill stuck to the back of the pipe with some old duct tape. We both laughed about it. Makes me wonder what else is hidden in houses around here. Has anyone else found random stuff while doing a repair?

Why does nobody talk about the "free consultation" trap?

I had a client in Phoenix who wanted free consults for 3 months before signing anything. Every time they said they needed more info, they got $500 worth of advice for free. Now I cap my first meeting at 30 minutes unless they put down a $150 deposit, that filter saved my sanity. Anyone else deal with the freebie hunters who never convert?

Contract said 30 day payment terms and I didn't realize that was a trap

Been freelancing for about 2 years now. Just lost $1,800 on a client out of Houston who took the full 30 days, then hit me with 'we need another 30 to process' and now ghosted. I thought 30 day terms were standard and fair. Now I realize they're basically an invitation for them to stall. Do you guys do net 15 or what's the standard for small jobs?

Question about using ice rollers on sensitive skin

I read a study last month that said using ice rollers can actually damage your skin barrier if you do it too often. Found it on a dermatology research site, not just some blog. The article mentioned that more than 3 times a week led to irritation in 60% of test subjects with sensitive skin. I was using mine every morning before work. Has anyone else seen redness or broken capillaries after daily ice rolling?

Finally realized I was dating pottery all wrong for 2 years

I kept getting weird results on my St. Louis site sherds until a visiting professor from Mizzou pointed out I was using the wrong type curve for the local clay composition lol. Switched to a regional reference collection and suddenly everything clicked into place. Has anyone else found that textbook methods just don't work for certain soil types?

Client ghosted me after 3 revisions and a $1200 invoice

Last month I spent 2 weeks redoing a logo for a client in Phoenix, sent the final invoice, and then they just stopped replying to emails. Has anyone else had to write off a big project like that just to keep your sanity?

I finally figured out why my torque wrench was drifting after 8 years of use

Last month at the hangar in Nashville I took apart my old CDI torque wrench and found dried-up grease caked inside the mechanism, so has anyone else dealt with gunk buildup ruining their calibration over time?

That one Wednesday where 4 clients paid on the same day out of nowhere

I had this weird Wednesday last month where I woke up to three payment notifications before 9 AM. One was a guy who usually runs 45 days late, and he paid a 6 month old invoice for $2,400. Then two more landed by lunch, including a $600 one I had written off in my head. By 4 PM a fourth one hit my account from a client in Austin who always pays net 60 on the dot. Felt like the universe glitched for a day honestly. Anybody ever have a random day where the cash just flows in like that?

Just landed my first $800 project... 3 months ago I was at zero

I've been freelancing for about 4 months now and my biggest win was landing a $800 web update project last week. Compared to my first few $50 gigs, this feels huge... how long did it take you guys to start seeing bigger numbers?
