Shoutout to the 20 year old notebook I found in a box, it taught me why my spreads keep failing
I was cleaning out the garage in March and found my first bullet journal from 2004, back when I just wrote lists in a spiral notebook with a pen I got free at a bank. Flipping through it, I noticed I only ever wrote three things per day: what I had to do, what I actually did, and one line about how the day went. Somewhere along the way I started copying those fancy layouts from Instagram, with the color coded boxes and mood trackers, and my own pages went from full to empty in about two weeks each time. It turns out the plain list was the thing that worked for me, not the decoration, and I had been blaming myself for years when it was really the layout. So now I want to ask folks here: how many of you still keep a no frills version, and did anyone else have to go backward before things clicked?
