Tried fancy dotted grid paper for a month, went back to plain cheap notebook and it wins by a mile
I bought a $28 dotted notebook from a fancy online store last month because everyone swears the dots make layouts easier. Turns out I spent more time counting dots to keep my lines straight than actually writing anything down. My cheap $3 notebook with plain lines lets me just draw boxes and go, and my weekly spread went from taking 40 minutes to about 10. I gave the expensive one to my sister in Phoenix who does art journaling, she loves it, but for tracking habits and to-dos it was just extra work. Does anyone else feel like the paper type matters way less than people make it seem?
Why do people act like the paper is gonna do the work for them? I went through the same thing with fancy planners, spent way too much, then realized the grid was making me obsess over spacing instead of just writing the stupid list. Now I use a cheap spiral notebook, draw two lines down the page for my columns, and I'm done in five minutes. The dots only help if you actually like drawing perfect little boxes, and most of us just need to write "buy milk" and move on. Save your money and your time.
