Ran my print shop for 3 years before I figured out I was quoting jobs wrong
A guy in Cleveland asked for a 500-piece run and I gave him a price off the top of my head in 30 seconds, then spent two hours that night doing the math and found I'd been leaving about $4 per job on the table because I never counted setup time, so now I'm curious how other small shop owners build that into their quotes or if everyone just eats it.
Setup time should be its own line on every quote, not folded into the piece price. Then it stings a little less when a small run comes in, and the customer sees why the number is what it is.
