Showerthought: I spent 4 hours deboning my first whole chicken because of one wrong cut
Last month I decided to break down a whole chicken at home instead of buying parts, thinking it would take maybe 45 minutes. Four hours later I had mangled the wings, torn the skin in three places, and nicked myself twice because I kept trying to cut through the joint instead of finding the seam. The problem was I never felt for the soft spot where the bone meets the socket, so I was basically sawing through cartilage with a dull boning knife. Once I slowed down and let my fingers find that gap first, the whole thing came apart in about 4 minutes. Has anyone else had a cut that finally clicked once you stopped forcing the blade?
