Appreciation post: The old guy at the lumber yard in Tulsa who changed my mind on plywood
I used to grab the cheapest 3/4 inch plywood at the big box store for every cabinet job, thinking the customer would never know the difference. Then I was picking up a sheet at a yard in Tulsa and this older guy behind the counter said, "Son, you're building a drawer box that's gonna sag in a year." He showed me how the cheap stuff had voids in the core and the good stuff was actually lighter and flatter. I switched to cabinet grade plywood for all my boxes six months ago, and I haven't had a single callback about warped drawers. Has anyone else had a yard guy call them out like that and actually been right?
