Floating shelves were always wobbly for me, but French cleats fixed that.
I used hidden brackets before and they never held up well. Switched to a French cleat setup and it's rock solid now, lmao. How do you guys handle shelf supports?
What about mixing methods for weird loads? I had a bookshelf where the cleat took the shear but a single discreet bracket at the very back stopped any forward tilt from heavy binders. Sometimes the best fix isn't one system but using a cleat for the main strength and a tiny bit of extra help hidden somewhere for a specific kind of wobble.
