Just realized the cabinet shop in Louisville I visited last month uses playing cards to shim doors
I was at a small cabinet shop in Louisville last month picking up some finished maple doors and watched the owner slide a playing card under a hinge to fix a 1/16 inch gap. He said he keeps a whole deck for shimming because cards are about .010 thick and he can stack them to fine tune. I tried it on a wonky pantry door at my own place the other day and it worked better than the cardboard I usually grab. Has anyone else used cards like this or is there a better trick for tweaking door reveals?
