Software engineer asked me why I don't use a CNC for everything

Was talking to my cousin's roommate at a BBQ in Jersey last weekend, he does coding or something. He said why hand-cut dovetails when a CNC can do them in 20 minutes. I tried to explain the feel of the wood, the subtle fit, but he just shrugged. Has anyone else had to justify hand work to people who only see efficiency?
