Warning: stop sanding plywood edges before you seal them
I picked this up from a guy named Ray at the woodworking show in Kansas City back in April, and it fixed a problem I had been fighting for a while. If you sand the edge of plywood before sealing it, you just open up the grain and it soaks up finish like a sponge, which is why my shelf edges kept looking blotchy. Hit them with a thin coat of sanding sealer first, then sand light with 220, and the edge stays flat and even. Anyone else run into this, or do you seal your edges a different way?
