After 8 years of running cable, I still think fish sticks are way better than glow rods for tight attic spaces.
Glow rods just don't flex the same way and they always get stuck on insulation, so has anyone else found a better alternative for pulling through blown-in stuff?

Tbh I had a buddy try using a glow rod in a tight attic last summer and it snapped halfway through, dude had to dig it out of the insulation for like 20 minutes. He finally just tossed it and went back to fish sticks, swear he still bitches about it every time we grab a beer.

8 years and you're still using fish sticks in attics? That's wild man. I've seen those things snap clean in half when they hit a sharp truss edge, especially in the summer heat when the plastic gets soft. Plus you gotta fish through a wet spot and they just turn into a floppy noodle. I switched to a 1/4" fiberglass rod with a steel core a couple years back after one too many broken sticks in an blown-in nightmare. Cost me like 40 bucks at the supply house but it's paid for itself in not having to crawl back out and start over.

Man I feel you on that. Nothing worse than crawling back through an attic after a stick snaps, especially when you're already sweating and covered in insulation. That fiberglass rod sounds like a lifesaver, might have to look into one myself.
