Another batch of meal prep spoiled in my work van. How do you keep food fresh during installs?

My buddy Tom swears by that old insulated cooler from our camping trip.

Seems like everyone's overreacting. How bad can it get? Just toss an ice pack in with your food and call it a day.

Chris, a buddy from work, lost a whole week of lunches in his van. It was during a heatwave in July. He got one of those silver insulated bags from the grocery store. Stuck a couple ice packs in there with his food. Says it made a huge difference. Now he never worries about spoilage.

My old work truck hit 120 degrees on the dash last August. Ice packs are a band-aid, they turn to warm water by lunch if your van bakes all morning. I switched to a hard cooler with real insulation, the kind rated for days, not hours. It costs more but it’s the only thing that actually keeps stuff cold when you’re parked in the sun all day.
