Can we talk about what happened when I trusted the toner on a 30 foot run in Tulsa?
Last Thursday I was on a job in Tulsa at an old brick duplex built in the 40s, and the wall was full of plaster and old knob wiring. My toner said the line ran straight up from the basement, so I drilled a 3/4 inch hole at chest height and hit a water pipe dead center. Flooded about two gallons into the drywall before I got the shutoff. Cost me three hours, a chunk of drywall, and my guy's trust since he subbed me the work, 180 bucks down the drain. What saved me was going back to the old trick of running a fishtape from the other end just to see if it would even reach, and it wouldn't have. From now on I check both ends before I cut anything. Anybody got a toner setup that actually handles plaster walls without lying to you?
