DAE think fishing cable through finished walls is way easier with a magnet than a glow rod, and why do guys still fight it?
I keep seeing installers on jobs fight a glow rod through insulation for 20 minutes when a $12 pair of magnets does it in 2. I did a whole house in Mesa last month with nothing but two rare earth magnets and a string, and I had every drop fished before the other crew on site even got their rods unwound. The trick is taping one magnet to a scrap of pull string and dragging it along the drywall with the other magnet on the outside, then you just feel for it. A glow rod kinks, hangs up on staples, and you can't steer it once it's in the cavity. I know some guys swear the rod is faster on short runs, but on anything over 4 feet I'll take the magnet every time. What's your go to for a wall full of fire blocking, because that's where mine still falls flat.
