Extra cable loops seemed like a hassle until a rewire job proved me wrong
I once thought extra cable loops just made a mess. A customer needed an upgrade and the old lines were too short. Now, I leave a bit of slack at every connection. It helps when you need to make changes later. This trick has made my jobs smoother.

Skip slack where you won't need it later.

Yeah that "skip slack where you won't need it later" thing is such a real strategy. I see it all the time with how people manage their energy, like rushing through boring chores to save mental effort for a hard project. But then sometimes you cut a corner on something small, like folding laundry, and it just makes a bigger mess you have to deal with later anyway.

Cutting corners on small tasks often backfires in a big way. You see it everywhere, from packing a bag too full to leaving no time between appointments. This cable loop trick is just the wiring version of that. We skip the slack now and pay for it later with more work. It's a pattern that never seems to stick, no matter how many times we learn it.

Spot the pattern in your own work. You rush a small step to save five minutes, then lose an hour fixing it later. Why do we keep doing that to ourselves?
