Got called out for using zip ties on a job in Boise. Customer said they looked 'unprofessional'. Now I'm rethinking my whole approach.

Oh please, the zip tie police are out in Boise now? Next they'll be checking if your wire nuts are color coordinated. I mean, they hold the stuff together, that's the whole job. But sure, maybe throw some fancy black ones on for the high end clients who have time to stare at conduit.

Honestly, that customer has a point. Zip ties do give off a temporary or sloppy vibe on finished work. It might be worth keeping a small box of proper clamps or straps on the truck. Sometimes that clean look is what people are really paying for.

Yeah, I got that same talk once on a kitchen remodel. It stung, but the guy was right. The white zip ties stuck out like a sore thumb against the dark cabinets. I switched to those low profile black clamps for any visible run now. It takes an extra minute, but people really notice that clean finish. It's part of the job, making it look good, not just work good.
