Watched a guy at the shop try to clean a sensor with a cotton swab and Windex

He was working on a Canon 5D Mark III for a customer, said he saw it on a YouTube short. I had to stop him before he touched the glass. That ammonia will wreck the coating in about two seconds flat. How many of you have seen someone try a 'shortcut' that actually ruins the gear?

My old boss used a Magic Eraser on a lens filter, said it was just fancy melamine foam. Took the whole anti-reflective layer right off.

Yeah that stuff is way too harsh for anything with a coating. It's basically super fine sandpaper. I've seen people ruin matte paint on walls with it too, scrubs off the finish. Good for some stains but you gotta be real careful what you use it on.
