Why does nobody talk about how film advance levers used to be stamped steel
Taking apart a 1978 SLR last week at my bench in Toledo, I noticed the advance lever was stamped steel with a simple spring, and it still worked fine after 45 years. Now I see plastic levers crack at the pivot pin after 3 years of light use, and repair folks just swap the unit instead of fixing the part. Does anyone still keep a box of old stamped levers for donors, or has everyone gone to full swaps?
