A finish carpenter in Des Moines showed me to rub paraffin on my saw shoe and it fixed my jamming
My circular saw kept snagging on pressure treated pine and burning the cut line no matter how slow I pushed. He told me to rub a candle stub on the base plate and it slides like glass now, has anyone tried this on other tools?
Candle wax on the base plate is a classic trick and it works on more than circular saws. Try it on your table saw's cast iron top and the fence rails too, especially if you cut a lot of pine or pressure treated stuff because that resin builds up quick and starts dragging. I keep a Gulf wax block in my shop just for this and hit the beds on my jointer and planer as well, makes feeding way smoother. Only thing to watch is don't go crazy on the planer bed or your boards can slip and kick back on you. Also works great on hand plane soles if you're pushing one through a tough grain, just a quick swipe and it glides.
