Chose between biscuit joints and pocket screws last fall, and I'm still second-guessing it
Last October I had a client in Denver who wanted a built-in bookcase in their hallway, and I couldn't decide between cutting real biscuit joints or just running pocket screws since the whole thing was getting painted anyway. I went with the pocket screws to save time, and three months later the shelves started sagging in the middle because the particle core couldn't hold, so now I'm rebuilding two of them with biscuits and glue. Has anyone else gotten burned picking the fast option on a painted piece, or do you just overbuild it from the start so speed doesn't matter?
